13 Day Fast (Sleeha Nombu)

Wednesday, June 16 is the beginning of the 13-day lent known as 'Sleeha Nombu', which in English translates to the 'Apostles Fast.' The practice of this fast means following in the footsteps of the Apostles (Heb. 13-7) who observed it in fulfillment of the Lord Jesus' words: "The days will come when the Bridegroom shall be taken from them and then shall they fast." (Matt 9:15). After the Ascension of the Lord Jesus to heaven and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples, they started to fast.

June 5 World Environment Day
The United Nations started the Environment Day celebration on June 5, 1972. The aim of Environment Day is to protect trees and forests, expand forest areas, ensure global environmental balance and climate sustainability.
This day stands as a reminder to each one of us to protect nature. Every year this day is celebrated with a message. The Environment Day message of 2021 is 'Environmental Restoration'.

Today, the Malankara Catholic Church marks the 2nd Second Anniversary of the commemoration of H.E. Geevarghese Mar Timotheos, the 5th Bishop of the Archdiocese of Tiruvalla.

Ordination of Dn. Varghese Anchanithadathil

Rev. Dn. Varghese Anchanithadathil will be ordained a priest for the Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the USA and Canada on Tuesday, February 2 at Christ the King Syro-Malankara Catholic Church in Ranni, Kerala, India by the Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos. Dn. Varghese completed his Philosophical Studies at the Papal Seminary in Pune, and his Theological studies at St. Mary's Malankara Major Seminary, Trivandrum.

Registration Open for Marriage Preparation (Pre-Cana) Course

The registration for the Marriage Preparation (Pre-Cana) Course is now open to the public. The course, organized by the Department of Family Apostolate, will be conducted online on March 6 & 7, 2021. Various scholarly resource persons will take classes for the participants on the Theology of the Sacrament of Matrimony, Family Psychology, Marriage Communication and Family Relationship, Marriage Canon Laws, Family Spirituality, Theology of the Body, Marriage Sexuality, and Stewardship and Family Budgeting.

3rd Anniversary of the Enthronement of Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos

On Sunday, November 1, 2020, the 3rd Anniversary of the Enthronement of our Eparchial Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos was celebrated at St. Vincent De Paul Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral. To mark the occasion, a cake was cut by Bishop Stephanos, who was surrounded by many of his flock. May God continue to grant our dear Aboon good health and wisdom as he continues to shepherd our Eparchy.

Blessing of the New Jersey Parish Rectory

On Sunday, October 25, 2020, the newly renovated New Jersey Parish rectory was blessed by the Eparchial Bishop Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos. The Pastor, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery Cor-episcopo, Associate Pastor Rev. Fr. Jobin Thomas, Rev. Sr. Jocelyn Edathil SIC and a few parish members joined the Bishop during the service. The Parish was also blessed by the presence of His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius, the Bishop of Parasala, as well as the Cathedral Rector, Rev. Fr. Noby Ayyaneth. The building will be used for parish office, meetings, catechism and vicar residence.

Golden Sacerdotal Jubilee of Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery Corepiscopo

On Sunday, October 25, 2020, St. Thomas Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish of New Jersey celebrated Rt. Rev. Msgr. Peter Kochery Cor-episcopo’s Golden Sacerdotal Jubilee. Cor-episcopo celebrated the solemn Holy Qurbono. Shortly after the Holy Qurbono a brief felicitation program with His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, Associate Pastor Rev. Jobin Thomas and a small group of parishioners present.
