Farewell to Rev. Fr. Jacob George Chirayath and Welcome to Rev. Fr. Sam John

After commendable service as the Pastor of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Mission in Boston, Rev. Fr. Jacob George Chirayath is relieved of his responsibilities in the Mission. The St. Mary Queen of Peace Eparchy remains deeply thankful to Rev. Fr. Jacob George Chirayath for the remarkable pastoral leadership that he gave to the Boston Mission. His pastoral leadership in the Mission has helped to strengthen the mission and to provide it with greater unity and consolidation. May God continue to bless Rev. Fr. Nuhro 2020 Bible Quiz

The Eparchial Bible Quiz will be part of the Faith Formation program. It will be conducted at three levels (Parish, Regional and Eparchial levels) for various age groups. The Nuhro 2022 Bible Quiz will be conducted online at all levels. The Quiz Questions for the Adult group will be given in Malayalam based on the POC Malayalam Bible. The Malayalam quiz option is only available to the adult group. The English Bible Quiz is based on The New American Bible, Revised Edition (NABRE).

Malankara Catholic Children's League (MCCL) Day

On Sunday, February 13, 2022, the Syro-Malankara Catholic Church is celebrating MCCL Day, This takes place on the Sunday following the Feast of the Presentation of our Lord in the Temple (Mayaltho). The Church recognizes the truth that the future of our Church is in its children. Therefore, the Church gives great importance to the faith formation of the children and their Christian personality formation. It is the desire and the dream of the Church that our children grow up like Child Jesus, “who increased in wisdom and in years, and in divine and human favour” (Lk 3:52).

Feast Day Celebration of H.E. Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos

On Saturday, January 8, 2021, St. Mary Queen of Peace Eparchy celebrated the Feast Day of the Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos. The day was marked with the celebration of the Holy Qurbono with His Excellency as the Main Celebrant, and the Cathedral Rector, Rev. Fr. Noby Ayyaneth as the homilist. The Protosyncellus, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Augustine Mangalath, Rev. Fr. Liju Thundiyil, and Rev. Fr. Jobin Thomas also concelebrated the Holy Qurbono. The Rev. Sisters and lay faithful of the tri-state area were in attendance representing the entire Eparchy.

Malankara Catholic Mission Niagara Region (Canada)

On November 27, 2021, the Syro-Malankara Catholic Mission Niagara Region was officially established by the Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, and His Excellency has appointed Rev. Fr. Aji Varghese as the priest in charge of this Mission. The Coordinator of the Malankara Catholic Missions in Canada and Syncellus of the Eparchy, Rt. Rev. Msgr. Gigi Philip, Rev. Fr. Abraham Lukose, and Rev. Fr. Paul Vellakunnath joined Rev. Fr. Aji Varghese in concelebrating the Divine Liturgy with the Faithful of the Niagara Region at 7:30 PM on November 27th at St.

Visit of Seminarians from St. Mary’s Seminary in Houston

On Sunday, October 31, 2021, Rev. Fr. Eurel Manzano, the Rector of St. Mary’s Seminary of the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, Fr. Michael Earthman, Director of Liturgical Formation, Fr. Richard Hinkley, Director of Spiritual Formation, Fr Jasper Leejo, Spiritual Father and 31 seminarians from visited St. Peter’s Syro-Malankara Catholic Parish in Houston, Texas, and attended the Holy Qurbono.

Pastoral Council Meeting

On October 23, 2021, a meeting of the Eparchial Pastoral Council was held in the Eparchial Chancery at 11 AM. The Eparchial Bishop, His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos presided over the meeting. The agenda of the meeting was the Eparchial level inauguration on the sharing of the theme of “For a Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, and Mission,” which is to be held in the universal church in 2023 in Rome, to provide an update and development of the proposed Pastoral Center, and pastoral planning of the Eparchy.

Eparchial Day

The 2021 Eparchy Day celebration was held on Saturday, October 23, 2021, at the St. Vincent de Paul Cathedral in Elmont, New York. The celebrations began with the solemn concelebrated Holy Qurbono at 9:00 a.m. with the Eparchial Bishop, Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos, the Main Celebrant. The celebration concluded with agape in the Cathedral Hall in which everyone could share the joy of Eparchial fellowship once again.

Synod 2021-2023: For A Synodal Church: Communion, Participation, Mission

Pope Francis has approved a new three-stage process for the next gathering of the Synod of Bishops; this process continues his efforts to reform the Catholic Church in accordance with the teachings of the Second Vatican Council. His aim is to involve the whole church at diocesan, national and continental levels through a process of “listening and discernment” on the important theme of synodality: “For a synodal Church: communion, participation, and mission.”
