Pastoral Council Meeting

On September 2, 2017, the Pastoral Council meeting was held at 10 am in the Bishop’s House, Elmont, NY. In the meeting, the Council was informed of the accounts until August 15, 2017. The Council, along with the Secretaries and Treasurers of the parishes, also discussed the plans for the Installation of the new bishop on October 28 and proposed the amounts that needed to be collected from each parish according to their strength.

North-East Regional Family Conference 2017

The second of the three Regional Family Conferences planned for the current year in the Eparchy was held at the Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral, Elmont from August 5 to 6. The theme selected for the Conference is ‘Cast your net into the deep’. Rev. Dr. Jose Mariadas OIC was the chief resource person for the adult group. Around 310 faithful attended the Conference from our parishes in the region, namely Cathedral, Yonkers, Rockland, New Jersey, and Philadelphia. Rev. Fr. MCYMNA Leadership Camp 2017

The MCYM Leadership Camp was held at Summit Lake Camp at Emmitsburg, Maryland on August 17 to 20, 2017. The theme of the Camp was Timothy 4:12 - “Let no one look down on your youthfulness, but rather in speech, conduct, love, faith and purity, show yourself an example of those who believe.” The event consisted of participants from throughout USA and Canada from as south as Houston, Texas to as north as Toronto, Canada. Talks were given by Marriana Leahy from the Culture Project, Christopher Thomas from Toronto parish, and Fr. Jerry Mathew.

Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius

His Holiness, Pope Francis has approved the appointment of His Excellency Most Rev. Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius as the first bishop of the newly erected Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy of Parassala, which has been formed by bifurcating from the Major Archdiocese of Trivandrum. The appointment was made by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis Catholicos at the recommendation of the Holy Synod of the Syro- Malankara Catholic Church. The appointment about the episcopal appointment and the canonical erection of the new eparchy was made concurrently in Rome and at the St.

Most Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos

Holy Father Pope Francis appointed Most. Rev. Dr. Philipos Mar Stephanos as the second bishop of the St.Mary, Queen of Peace Syro Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the USA and Canada. The appointment was made at the recommendation of the Holy Synod of the Syro Malankara Catholic Church. The announcement about this appointment was made concurrently in Rome and at the St. Mary’s Cathedral, Pattom, Trivandrum, Kerala and at the Cathedral of the St. Mary, Queen of Peace Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the USA and Canada on 5th August 2017.

North-East Region Family Conference Registration Kick-Off

The second of the three Regional Family Conferences of the Eparchy, scheduled to take place this year, will be held on August 5 and 6 at the Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral, Elmont, New York. The Registration Kick-Off for the same was held on Sunday, July 9 at the Cathedral Parish. His Excellency Dr. Thomas Mar Eusebius officiated the ceremony. He inaugurated the Registration by receiving the Registration form from Mr. Thundiyath Babukutty, who has been appointed the General Convener of the Conference.

Mid-West Regional Family Conference

The first of the three Regional Family Conferences planned for the current year in the Eaprchy was held in Chicago from June 23 to 25. Around 75 families attended the Conference from our three parishes in the region, namely Chicago, Detroit and Toronto. Rev. Babu Madathilparambil, the Pastor of our Parish in Chicago was the Chief Coordinator of the Conference. Mr. Benjamin Thomas of the Chicago parish served as the General Convener. MCYM Weekend Getaway

The MCYM-East Regional Board held the first ever "MCYM Weekend Getaway" at Camp Poyntelle Lewis Village, Pennsylvania on June 16-18. It was a three day event from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon conducted to give the youth above the age of 18 from the Eparchy an opportunity to spend time with each other in a relaxing and fun picnic-like atmosphere. The event featured events such as Hiking, Ultimate  Frisbee, and bonfire along with short talks by Fr. Michael Edathil, Sr. Jocelyn Edathil, and Fr. Jerry Mathew and daily Mass.

Consecration of the Cathedral Sanctuary

The renovated sanctuary of the Syro-Malankara Catholic Cathedral of the St. Mary, Queen of Peace Eparchy was consecrated on March 25, on the great Feast of Annunciation. The liturgy of the consecration was presided over by His Beatitude Moran Mor Baselios Cardinal Cleemis with His Excellency Thomas Mar Eusebius and His Excellency Joseph Mar Thomas as the concelebrants. His Eminence Timothy Cardinal Dolan preached the homily during the liturgy. Around fourteen bishops representing different Catholic Dioceses from and around New York participated in the event. The ceremony started at 3.00 pm.
