The St. Mary Queen of Peace Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the USA & Canada joyfully announces that Rev. Fr. Jerry Mathew has successfully completed his Doctorate in Theology with a Specialization in Youth Ministry from the prestigious Pontifical Salesian University in Rome.

This milestone achievement crowns five years of rigorous academic study, theological research, and pastoral dedication. Rev. Fr. Jerry’s doctoral defence, “A Family-Based Model for Adolescents’ Faith Education: An Empirical-Theological Study in the Context of Syro-Malankara Catholic Eparchy in the United States of America,” was met with unanimous acclaim, earning a perfect score of 30 out of 30 from the panel of professors—an extraordinary recognition of his scholarly excellence and pastoral insight.

Remarkably, Rev. Fr. Jerry pursued his doctoral studies while actively serving the Eparchy in multiple capacities. He was entrusted with the pastoral care of the Chicago parish, led vibrant youth ministry initiatives, and served as a chaplain—all while translating 10 English-language books for the Eparchy, contributing significantly to its liturgical and catechetical resources.

His specialization in Youth Ministry reflects a profound commitment to nurturing the faith and leadership of young people in the Church. The Pontifical Salesian University, known for its emphasis on pastoral formation and educational excellence, provided a fertile ground for Rev. Fr. Jerry’s theological and ministerial growth.

The Eparchy extends its heartfelt congratulations to Rev. Dr. Jerry Mathew and offers prayers of gratitude and blessing for his continued service. May his academic and pastoral gifts continue to enrich our communities and inspire the next generation of faithful leaders.
